History
1960
The partners KERschl and SchMIdt found the company as a workshop for the production of heating oil tanks.
1967
Production of steel panel radiators begins.
1972
The factory is expanded to include the first fully automatic production line for steel panel radiators.
1973
The company is taken over by the Salzgitter Group.
1976
The Shower Enclosure business sector is created.
1987
The NT 2000 V-Compact radiator is introduced with an integrated valve fitting.
Due to the rapid success of the product, the location is already extensively expanded and upgraded by the end of the 1980s.
1989
The first steel panel radiator models specially adapted for use in the bathroom are launched.
Salzgitter AG merges with PREUSSAG AG. Kermi GmbH is now part of the PREUSSAG Group.
1990
Kermi paves the way with the new Infocenter, an exemplary forum for presentation, training, and interaction.
1992
A brand new steel panel radiator factory with fully automatic production lines and a paint shop launch operations.
1994
Production of bathroom and designer radiators begins.
1996
Kermi s.r.o., which has its own production facilities, is founded in Stribro in the Czech Republic.
1997
Convectors and heating panels are added to the product range.
2000
The Kermi all-glass shower enclosure programme is launched
2001
Kermi expands its heating technology competence with the x-net underfloor heating system.
Gaining an international market presence and expanding the product programme over the last decade involved extensive expansion of development, production, logistics, and administration.
Since 1 July 2001, Kermi has been part of AFG Arbonia-Forster Holding AG, which is based in Arbon/Switzerland.
2004
Kermi s.r.o. Stribro is considerably expanded in the areas of production and logistics.
2005
The therm-x2 is introduced with innovative, energy-saving x2-technology in multi-layer valve radiators with a centre connection.
Generously proportioned walk-in glass units open up new possibilities in a young, growing trendy market.
2007
The innovative x2-technology is introduced in all multi-layer valve radiators.
2008
50 million lots of quality and innovation from Lower Bavaria. In the steady beat of the welding line, the 50 millionth steel panel radiator rolls off the production lines at Kermi in Plattling in 2008.
2010
50 years of Kermi – 50 years of innovation, design, and quality. Originally founded as a workshop , today Kermi is one of the leading suppliers of heating technology and shower solutions in Europe.
The Sanitary department is expanded to include the Wet Floor System Business Unit.
2013
The presentation of the Kermi x-optimised heating system marks a new milestone. Kermi enters the heat generation, heat storage, and heat control segments and therefore provides everything from a single source right up to the heat transfer.
2014
The new Kermi seminar centre opens: Campus at the company headquarters in Plattling.
In 2014, the expansion work on the logistics area is completed.
2015
The x-well residential ventilation solution provides a comfortable climate in every room – the ideal addition to the Kermi x-optimised heating system.
2018
Extensive investments in production & logistics for shower design and indoor climate are completed.
Like the range of products, the Kermi site in Plattling has also grown over the years.
2019
In the Kermi x-optimised system, the individual heating technology components fit together in perfect coordination. The addition of “+e” represents the expansion of intelligent electrical solutions. Here, we rely on the use of renewable energies and the intelligent combination of water and electricity-based system components.
2020

2022
Kermi has already produced 15 million shower enclosures at the Plattling site in Lower Bavaria, all filled with its passion for developing and producing premium shower solutions.
On 21 June 2022, its fifteen millionth shower enclosure came off the production line.
